Trei Cafe Location: 232 Blackburn Rd, Glen Waverley VIC 3150 Phone: (03) 9802 0960 Disclaimer: Sponsored article T & I popped into a local that is always packed. Trei cafe’s rather Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde menu personality dismisses any banality from breakfast. Be it pre-gym boost, post decadent night cleanse or early feast there’s a wild selection for the healthy and the luxurious alike. Breakfast burger – goat cheese patty, spiced egg, chilli onion jam, bacon, haloumi, dukkah and beetroot hollandaise, squid ink bun The new breakfast burger certainly leans towards the lux end. The creamy mayo is great against the sweet beetroot. This is all balanced by the sharpness of the goats cheese that also has a good crunch. The haloumi and bacon add great umami depth. coconut hotcakes – with vanilla and nutmeg coyo ice cream, coconut nectar, toasted pistachios and blueberries – 19.5 These hotcakes neatly stradle the line, with a litheness making these an easy choice for the lovers of sweet things, but also want some balance. The hotcakes are beautifully cooked, light, fluffy and moist. The syrup balances the tartness from the fruits and the ice cream was great with a whipped, airy creaminess and delicate flavour. It’s worth popping into Trei, especially if you’re a local, as there’s bound to be something regardless of your nourishing cravings, guilts or rules.
