Mork Chocolate Brew House Location: 150 Errol Street, North Melbourne, Melbourne Contact: 03 9328 1386 If you’ve ever wondered where Hash Specialty Coffee’s fairy floss hot chocolate comes from, this is it kids. The Mork concept store and brew house is a chocolate fan’s dream, with the cafe producing its own liquid hot chocolate and hot beverages.
Dolcetti Location: 223 Victoria St West Melbourne, VIC 3003 Contact: 03 9328 1688 Seating just a handful of customers, pint-sized Dolcetti is a small Sicilian pastry and cake shop with enough charm to win over even the slightest of sweettooths. While the shop does do a few savoury goods (think soups and arvo tea), sweet treats are definitely the main deal here, so it’s pretty hard to go by the beautifully decorated mini cheesecakes, strawberry and pistachio tarts and fruity danishes encased in the glass cabinet to the front. Things get a little tricky though when you spot the platters of biscuits encrusted with nuts on the top counter. They’re impossible to resist, and you’re guaranteed to want to take at least one of these babies home.
Beatrix Location: 688 Queensberry St, North Melbourne Contact: 03 9090 7301 With its virtually unmarked glass door and cosy interior, this diminutive space on Queensberry St is home to some of our favourite cakes out. Opt for one of those sinful Elvis cupcakes (who knew banana and bacon candy could marry so well?) or one of those famous potato brioche donuts, covered in a lemon sour cream glaze. They’re so fluffy and snow-like – one touch and you’ll be in heaven.
Frolic Yoghurt Fitzroy Location: 365 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, VIC 3065 Contact: 03 9417 0097 Finally summer seems tantalisingly within our reach, and with that T and I were delighted to accept an invitation to drop by and savour all things froyo at Frolic Frozen Yoghurt, Fitzroy. Step in and you can’t help pausing to admire the feature wall – custom artwork sprawled across bare brick, so fitting and at home at its residence on Brunswick Street. Traverse further in, past the toppings bar (oh, so many choices – don’t worry, we’ll come back to that) and you’re ready to get down to business.
Gelato World Tour Location: Argyle Square, Lygon Street from 25th-27th October 2013 We made our way down to gelato heaven this week (aka the Gelato World Tour in Argle Square) to sample some incredible talent. Eight cities in 5 continents were chosen to showcase their local gelato specialists as part of the world tour: Rome, Valencia, Dubai, Shanghai, Austin, San Paulo, Berlin and Melbourne. Up to sixteen gelato artisans are selected for each stage and they compete for the best flavours, combining tradition and innovation, with all of the artisans vying for a place in the grand final in Italy in September 2014.

Auction Rooms Location: 103-107 Errol St, North Melbourne, VIC 3051 Contact: 03 9326 7749 Website: http://www.auctionroomscafe.com.au/ This chic roastery and cafe is housed in an expansive, industrial warehouse on Errol Street. Its facade is fairly innocuous, but look closer at those pale blue brick walls and you’ll find the ‘auction rooms’ sign faintly etched into it.

Haymarket Place Location: 212 Berkeley St, Carlton, VIC 3053 Contact: 03 9347 8228 I’m loving the variety that’s been sweeping through the Carlton arena, and with Haymarket Place being yet another quirky addition to the morning mix, we really are spoilt for choice.
Twenty and Six Espresso Location: 594 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne VIC Contact: 03 9329 0298 I had the loveliest breakfast the other day at Twenty and Six Espresso. Far down Queensberry and just around the corner from Auction Rooms on Errol Street, it’s a small cafe with a bit of ‘tude serving up pretty brunches and scrumptious cakes.
Middle Fish Address: 122-128 Berkeley St, Carlton, VIC 3053 Contact: 03 9348 1704 Opening Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-5pm; Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm I absolutely adore the fit out at Middle Fish and its hip brother, Mr. Nice Guy.
Serving the same classic Italian menu that we experienced at DOC Mornington earlier this year, DOC Carlton delivers addictive pizzas using excellent produce and that roaring pizza oven, all in the confines of its simple, contemporary setting in Drummond Street.
Seven Seeds’s façade is an unassuming wall of grey brick, with the cherry-red sign splashed right across the front.
A cosy pizza and pasta joint off Lincoln Square, Kaprica’s wooden doors and plain walls are unmarked and nondescript, making it harder to spot for those walking briskly by.
