Juno and May 662 Burke Road, Camberwell, Melbourne Contact: 03 8840 8006 Juno and May have transformed a large complex space into a series of areas with different textures. The bright light, light stained wood brunch front leads to the luxurious dark back area, with a great high function area above. We dropped in at night to taste their asian inspired dinner menu _02a4854

Miss Korea Kitchen

Written by THE FOOD SOCIETY on . Posted in $ Cheap as chips, $$ Moderately priced, Asian, Camberwell, Korean, VICTORIA

Miss Korea Kitchen Location: 845 Burke Road, Camberwell, Melbourne, VIC Contact: 03 9882 4999 This one-room Korean eatery on Camberwell’s bustling Burke Road serves all that sizzly, smoky, K-Bbq goodness without the fuss, and then some. Barbequed wagyu scotch fillet (7+ marble score) and black angus meat can be brought to your table and cooked in front of you. Large Korean army-stype stews are also on offer. What we love, however, are the individual dishes and shared plates – in particular, Miss Korea Kitchen’s seafood pancake is a winner, jam-packed with flavour and crisp at the edges.

MELBOURNE FAVOURITES – SUMMER 2015

I am constantly astounded by the quality and diversity of food that is offered in Melbourne. Having recently returned from travelling and working overseas (where I had the pleasure of dining at quite a few Michelin-starred restaurants), I can comfortably say that Melbourne offers some of the best restaurants and cafes in the world, which, believe it or not, I much preferred over their Michelin-starred counterparts. This past month I have been very ‘busy’ re-acquainting my palette with Melbourne food. Here are a few favourites that I’d happily eat at (over and over) again: Hinoki Japanese Pantry Location: 279 Smith Street, Fitzroy, VIC 0065 Contact: 03 9417 4531 IMG_20150215_174219 Hinoki Japanese Pantry on Urbanspoon Fonda Mexican Location: 248 Swan Street, Richmond, VIC 3121 Contact: 03 9429 0085 IMG_20150224_204240 Fonda Mexican on Urbanspoon Jinda Thai Location: 7 Ferguson St, Abbotsford, VIC 3067 Contact: 03 9419 5899 Processed with VSCOcam with c2 preset Jinda Thai Restaurant on Urbanspoon

My Other Brother

My Other Brother Location: Enter at rear (via car park), 586 Burke Rd Camberwell, VIC 3124 My Other Brother is located in the most unassuming of places – to get to this one, you’ll have to deviate from the bustle of Bourke Road; the cafe sits behind a makeshift picket fence on the boundary of the car park leading to Camberwell Market. However, once you’re in, you’re in for a treat. The cafe is delightfully bright space, with enough seating to allow for not-too-long waits, and huge communal tables lining the centre. It’s a clean and crisp feel, and, despite its relatively hidden facade, is absolutely teeming with customers. The service is warm and polite on the busiest of days.

Prospect Espresso

Prospect Espresso Location: 2a Prospect Hill Rd, Camberwell, VIC Contact: 03 9882 7359 As the traffic moves swiftly from Prospect Hill Road to Burke, Prospect Espresso’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appeal is nestled in a wee space, with the crew pumping out consistently excellent coffee and well-executed breakfasts. The pared-back, sun-drenched cafe has quickly become a popular place for those looking for a sweet escape from the buzz of the main shopping strip and the promise of good coffee, all served in those mint-tinted Acme & Co cups. Bliss.
